How to Comfortably Wear a Knee Brace
When wearing a knee brace, it is important that it is fitted properly. A brace that is too loose will slide down your leg. This brace will not provide adequate support for your knee, and it could potentially create a tripping hazard if it slides down too low. A brace that is too tight may also create problems for you. When your brace is too tight, it may cut off circulation to your leg or it may pinch nerves. This could lead to discoloration, swelling, or numbness and tingling.
When it comes to wearing your brace over or under clothing, it is always recommended to wear the product as close to the skin as possible. This will reduce the chance of gravitation. If you must wear the brace over clothing, wear with a non-slip material such as cotton, Luon and wool. Try to avoid Lycra, Polyester and Spandex.
Orthopedic bracing may not be the most fashionable clothing accessory. However, it is very important to wear a properly fitted brace for it to be as effective as possible for your best quality of life. The relief and support will outweigh the bulk or hesitation of wearing the product.
